Dance Styles & Personalities

If you could choose one word to describe dancing, what would it be?

For us, it would probably have to be “timeless”.

Throughout ancient history, we discover that the primary purpose of dancing was to narrate stories, including up until now, in the peak of modern technology where dance challenges are among the most popular content online, it's undeniably an activity that is loved by both the young and old.

Just go on TikTok or Instagram, and you’ll probably come across a video of people dancing to Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” or some new hits like the viral “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Are you among those people who post dance covers, too? Or do you belong to the group with eyes wide, mouth agape, thinking, “How is it possible to dance so gracefully and flexibly?” Well, if the latter fits your description and you’re looking to improve or dust off your dancing skills, then you’ve reached the right school!

We at N2 Dance Productions work with kids and adults, beginner and intermediate alike to get those bodies groovin’!

We offer various dance programs and are pretty sure that there's one that might pique your interest. As the renowned author J.K. Rowling said, "If you don't like reading, you haven't found the right book." The same goes for dancing! That's why it's necessary to find your style and what better way to do that than enrol in Sydney's premier dance school?

Currently at N2 Dance Productions, you can choose from the following programs: ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and tap. Here are a few pointers to help you decide which would suit you best!

1. Ballet

Are you someone with a keen eye for detail? Or perhaps you exude grace and charisma? Well, it sounds like you’d make a good ballet dancer! Ballet is a genre of dance that dates back to the Italian Renaissance period that uses graceful, precisely-organised movements.

2. Jazz

However, if you find yourself to be creative and spontaneous without any penchant for planning, you’d probably find jazz appealing. It originates from African-Americans and is characterized by its fun, experimental steps, which include body rolls, swings, and kicks.

3. Hip-Hop

Among the most popular dance forms in the present time, hip-hop is highly-choreographed and perfect for dynamic souls with energetic personalities. It involves sharp moves and allows dancers the freedom to incorporate their styles. Hip-hop was founded by a Jamaican who is commonly known to the world of dance as DJ Cool Herk.

4. Tap

Similar to jazz, it also originates from Africans in the 19th century when their percussion instruments had been taken away. If you’re also resourceful and are good at improvisation, we’ve got a question for you: Are you ready to take on the challenge of using your feet as an instrument that gives off a delightful rhythm with every tap? If so, then go for tap dancing!
